Turning Fat Into Fuel: Eat the Best and Burn the Rest
by Earl Christensen

Ever wondered how fats and oils are converted to biodiesel? Why are we so interested in this renewable source of energy? Former food chemist turned fuel and combustion researcher Earl Christensen of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory studies the processes and challenges of increasing renewable fuel usage in the US.

The Eye, The Gut, and the Test Tube: Detecting Art Forgeries
by Francesca Tronchin

Fakery is a lucrative business in the art world and museums are loath to admit their mistakes. Fortunately, there are many tools at an art historian’s disposal to detect fakes, and not all of them are scientific tests. History teacher with a past, Dr. Francesca Tronchin has had first-hand experience in art museums and will explain techniques for detecting forgeries, from “That just doesn’t look right” to C-14 dating and thermoluminescence.

As always, a huge thanks to our photography partners From the Hip Photo, our crafty friends at The Craft Box, and the best venue in Denver, The Bug Theatre!
